Goodbye!

Dear students, families and teachers,
After 18 years of working at school, I will start a new stage as a teacher far away from Joanot Alisanda next September.
Goodbyes are difficult for me. There are students, families and teachers at school who I have become close to. There is a real feeling of sadness, so it's hard to find the right words to express it. Sometimes I feel empty, like there were other words I should have said.
I'll miss you a lot, that's true but life goes on.
Nevertheless, I invite you to follow the bloc and visit it whenever you want.
I will feel very happy if you do.
On the other hand, I'm looking forward to my new school. It's going to be different but at the same time it's going to be a challenge for me. I will learn from my mates and new students. I'm sure I will enrich myself in order to become a better teacher.
Goodbye, and see you soon!

Internet is sometimes magic!

The japanese artist and model Amuro Namie has a new music video out that is not only catchy but incredibly fun as well. Her song "Golden Touch" has something special because you can interact with the video itself.
Place your finger on the screen and a number of things take place, using your finger as an interactive point.

Identity for children

Hi you all!
As you know, year 4 is finishing a project about identity.
This is the tool I used to introduce the topic to children.

Story Time for Kindergarten-1

Hi you all!
It has been a great day Today! Kindergarten 3-year-old teachers asked to me about the Three Little Pigs Story . They wanted that children listen to that famous story in English! Although at our school we don't start teaching the foreign language until Children are in Kindergarten 3 (5 years old) I shared the story with them.
Here you have a photo from the very beginning of the story. Children were very interested and they enjoyed with pictures. Furthermore, they repeated and learnt some vocabulary from the story.
If you click on the photo you will find more pictures.

Oceans day!

Look at  the picture below. The birds are puffins. They have coloful beaks and expressive eyes. Scientists are worried because they are very hungry. We are putting them at risk due to rising ocean temperatures which disturb their food sources!

We celebrate an important date today. For this reason, children have worked hard on the sea and oceans' topic. Look at the activities they have made in this 30'' movie. Try to find these words: CRAB-SEA-SHARK-WHALE-SEA HORSE-OCTOPUS-FISH-STARFISH-TURTLE- SHELLS-JELLYFISH

Take care of Oceans

We will celebrate the World Oceans day next Monday, June 8th.
As first graders are working on sea animals, second graders on birds and third graders on different landscapes, why don't we make a promise in order to have better Oceans and to protect the sea animals? Let's think about it and  we will comment it next Monday.
Meanwhile, here you have a cute video where two children go from their home to places around the world before returning home to tell their friends about the adventure and all they have learned. By the way, the accompanying song of ocean celebration is a parody of Gotye's "Somebody that I used to know"

Education and motivation

We all have critical thoughts about our job as teachers. To be a teacher is not easy nowadays because of different reasons.
To begin with, the cuts in education and the precarious economic situation don't help us. However children grow up and they must be educated. Furthermore, we have a diversity range of students in our lessons and this diversity should be appreciated and understood.
How can we cope with this situation? It is said that teachers should motivate students using different techniques but with the different inputs that children receive from everywhere, each time is more difficult.
Warming up activities to check what they learnt in the previous lesson can be a good way to start with. However if we use the same daily activity, children will get bored. Therefore, it's important to introduce a wide range of techniques such as games, songs, chants and poems. I love to practise them. Here you have an example: The cookie jar. If you click on the pic, you watch and listen to the chant.

This is a recycled cleaning jar ;D With some decorations and stickers, it's our special Cookie Jar for playing this chant in the classroom.
