Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is here!
I want to take a moment to thank all of your support, whether it’s helping children, following this English blog, doing the activities on line or giving your support. It means so much for this English teacher!
Although this tradition is not a catalan one, I wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving!
Whoops! I forgot it! If you click on the picture below you will find an activity for working phonetics!

By the way, let's find out about this special day!

Each year, Americans celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday on the fourth Thursday of November. Most families follow traditions begun on the first Thanksgiving, but many have their own traditions that they follow each year. Martha Pace, the American teacher we had last school year, told us that this Day is a little bit more important than Christmas Day!
The tradition is to spend time with family. They meet together and prepare traditional meals for this celebration: turkey, sweet potatoes, cornbread among others. And many people serve a special pie for dessert...So...

Gobble, gobble! This sweet "turkey" is the perfect finish to a Thanksgiving meal.

After the feast families often do additional activities. Some like to take walks after eating such a large meal. Some people take naps. Others sit down together to play board or card games together.
If you want to learn more about the first Thanksgiving, click here

In the english lessons, we are learning the actions that horses do and also new vocabulary about them.
Besides that, we have discovered fun facts about them:
. They can sleep both lying down and standing up.
. Their lifespan is around 25 years.
. They have around 205 bones in their skeleton.
...

Here you have this funny song from "kids songs" by Patty Shukla

Vicking project

2nd graders are working on vickings
They have learnt that several thousand years ago, some regions of Norway and Sweden were inhabitated by the Vikings. Most of men were good as leather workers and boat builders. Women baked bread and worked on turning sheep's wool into cloth. They made family's clothes, cooked and looked after children.
Vickings had fun swimming, wrestling and riding horses.
If you want to learn more information about them, click on the vicking's ship.

By the way, let me introduce you to a famous one: Vickie, the vicking.
When I was a child, I really loved watching Vickie! I enjoyed a lot with his adventures.
Vickie was very intelligent and had amazing ideas. He rubbed his nose and then clicked his fingers when he had got the answer to a problem.
Watch this short trailer and wait for next English lesson...we'll work on vickie, the vicking profile!
