Bye Madiba!

Nelson Mandela died yesterday night.
The whole world is very sad because he was one of the most powerful and inspirational leaders in the world. He was the first black president of South Africa after being 27 years in prison because he fighted against bad government and racial prejudice.
He wanted a better future for everybody in his country.
From this blog we sadly say, bye bye Madiba!

World AIDS Day

AIDS is a very serious disease that is caused by a tiny germ called a VIRUS . When you are healthy, your body can fight off diseases, like Superman fighting the bad guys. Even if you do get sick, your body can fight the germs and make you well again. But when you have AIDS, your body cannot protect you. That’s why people with AIDS get very sick.
The United Nations' World AIDS Day is held on December 1 each year to honor AIDS victims. So, if you see this lace today, you'll know why people wear it.
Have a nice Sunday you all!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve to all

Thanksgiving is here!
I want to take a moment to thank all of your support. It means so much for me!

If you click on the picture below you will find an activity for working phonetics!

By the way, let's find out about this special day:
Americans celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday on the fourth Thursday of November each year.
The tradition is so imporant that people spend time with family. They meet together and prepare traditional meals for this celebration: turkey, sweet potatoes, cornbread among others. Many people serve a special pie for dessert.  Because of that,  here you have a delicious proposal ending .

After the feast families often do additional activities. Some like to take walks after eating such a large meal. Some people take naps. Others sit down together to play board or card games together.

English Alphabet

Hi you all!
CM1 graders are very enthusiastic with the alphabet. We introduce an animal and a quality in each English lesson: angry ant, busy bee, cute cat, dizzy duck, elegant elephant, funny frog, good goose... In fact, we've arrived to R, red rooster. In that way, when we finish all the ABC, we would have learnt lots of new words. At the same time, they guess that the quality goes before the name.
It's fantastic and children are very motivated.
8 letters miss to finish the Alphabet and we have to learn it by heart.
For that reason here you have a song from Chuchu TV.
Enjoy it and study the English Alphabet for next lesson!

Interesting exhibition

I had the opportunity to visit Palau Robert today!

P. Robert's room 1 celebrates the career of Roser Capdevila, The Triplets' creator and illustrator, sharing an exhibition about her which runs until April 27th 2014.
The exhibition uses her notes, drawings, toys and different tools to show how her work provides children and adults alike with a visual feast and lots of historical and autobiographical connections to be discovered.
As an example, do you know that the Bruixa Avorrida is based on a school teacher who punished the little Roser in drawing classes? it's fun, isn't it?
I really enjoyed! Thanks to Roser Capdevila for sharing her archive with us.
"It is a homage to the way Roser is, which is that of a fighter who wants to make a difference and make a better world" (Mercè Alsina, co-curator of the exhibition)

Time for 4th graders

Hi you all!
4th graders are studying how to tell time.
We use a clock with no glass or plastic cover and easily maneuverable hands.
In that way, we can change time and correct oral activities easily.
They have homework for next week: they have to check what we learnt in the English lessons.
For that reason, here you have an amazing activity for that.
Enjoy with it!
