I can / I can't

Hi there,
this video shows an interesting way to work habilities.
Some superhumans are shown on how they overcome barriers.
As teachers, we can make that whenever our students think that they cannot do what they want, they must believe in themselves and they must try to do.
I'm sure that they will forget their sorrows.

15th FINA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS (BCN2013)

The 15th  FINA World Championships will take place in Barcelona from July 19 to August 4.
The main pool of the 15th FINA World Championships, installed at Palau Sant Jordi and host of the swimming and synchro events during the competition, was inaugurated  last Sunday.
But, who are our swimmers? Do you know them? Pay attention to this video and follow the competitions during next days

The music video for the official song of this Championships was presented by a famous catalan music band ("Els amics de les arts") giving an underwater concert at the high permorfance center CAR (Sant Cugat). Here you have the English version "The city between blue and blue". Enjoy it!

18 days to go !

Hi you all! How was your weekend? Exciting? I'm sure you have enjoyed a lot. By the way, it's July 9 and there're only 18 days to go to the famous games. Look at this picture and remember what we talked about the rings in our lessons.

They are the largest Olympic Rings which have been mown into the grass at Richmond Park in London. At approximately 300m wide and 135m tall they are visible on the Heathrow flight path! If you want to see the real page, go to http://l2012.cm/Md49aL

Giant sets of Olympic Rings are being installed at iconic sites across the United Kingdom to excite and inspire people ahead of the Games and to demonstrate that they are ready to welcome the world.

Pep leaves Barça at end of June.

Pep Guardiola will leave Barça on June 30 after four years in charge of FC Barcelona's first team. Guardiola's assistant, Tito Vilanova, will be Barça's next head coach. In press conference at Camp Nou last month, Sandro Rosell expressed his gratitude to the coach for  perfecting a footballing model.
Also from this page, I want to be grateful with him because he's  been a perfect model for our children.
Sometimes when I'm watching out the playground and kids come with problems, I usually try to put Guardiola and Barça football players as kids' examples. Most of the times, it works!
One more time, Thanks Pep!
Good job has no borders at all!

THE MOST PERFECT MACHINE

Hi you all!
3rd and 4th graders are working on a special topic, Olympic Games. We have learnt some new vocabulary and we have already discovered that all of us have a wonderful machine,
OUR HEART!
The walls of the heart are made of really strong muscles that squeeze and relax to pump blood around the body. It does this about 90 times a minute if you're a child and 70 times a minute if you're an adult.
So, that means that a child's heart beats about 130.000 times a day and an adult's heart beats 100.000 times a day!
 Amazing, isn't it?
Also, we have written a poem and we have to learn for next week. It's very easy and you can learn with us:
Sports are healthy.
Sports are fun.
Sports are easy
and good for everyone!

CONCLUSIONS on lessons:
If your heart is healthy it will be able to work for a long time !

Your heart will like it if you:
  • Exercise every day
  • Eat a healthy diet
  • Drink water every day rather than fizzy drinks (coke, soda...)
  • Make good choices as you grow older: you can choose not to smoke as an example.

Your heart
will love you
for it!

By the way, let me to show you some of the vocabulary we have learnt a long this week, about this interesting topic! For the moment, try to find these keywords in the image presentation below (TEAM - MEDAL - OLYMPIC FLAG - SPORTS - FRIENDSHIP -ATHLETE-OLYMPIC TORCH -GREECE)
Make your own slide show at Animoto.

If you want to learn more about this project, look at the 3rd and 4th graders' pages and also the 14th of May in this blog.
Have a good weekend and
See you next Monday!
