Qui és és un joc de taula sobre dones valentes que van canviar el món.

Vaig pensar en tenir-lo per utilitzar-lo a les meves lliçons d’anglès. La meva primera idea és treballar cada dona. Primer, individualment. Després, per parelles i, finalment, per grups de quatre. D’aquesta manera, cada grup coneixerà informació sobre quatre dones. Després, donaré un número a cada grup i en crearé de nous que estableixin una persona de cada grup. Al final, tothom coneixerà algunes d’aquestes dones importants. 

An excellent reading

This book is an excellent reading to inspire not only girls but also mothers, grandmothers and teachers. We can read it to schoolchildren. Illustrated by sixty female artists, the book introduces us to one hundred remarkable women and their extraordinary lives. Empowering, moving and inspirational, they are real lives for heroines who definitely want to be themselves!

HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY

I want to recommend a book today. That is Mrs. White Rabbit, written and illustrated by Gilles Bachelet. It's a funny book where Mrs. White rabbit loves her husband and their children, but living in Wonderland comes with a number of challenges. In addition, Alice usually visits her and there are endless tasks and chores that disturb her. Her husband never notices, and never collaborates with the housework. Because of these reasons, she wishes a cooperative and lovely husband much more the one she has. Luckily, she writes a diary and she forgets it lying around, moment in which her husband can read it and design a sweet end. Worthy to read it!

Ready for an interesting oral activity

Hi there,
Women Day is coming and I am interested in talking to children about household chores before March 8th. Somethimes people think that these chores are for women. Why? My goal in this activity is to change minds and also habits at home. Is it going to be possible?

First of all, I designed a presentation with some chores vocabulary just to refresh and to remember some basic vocabulary.
After that, I will ask students the meaning of chores. If they don't answer, I will describe them as routine tasks that are often done around home. 
Many people find chores unpleasant or boring and they are averse to do them.  When chores are divided among many people, they can be accomplished much faster.
The presentation below will help us to understand better some of the chores.

After talking about the main chores, we will be ready to introduce a conversation about them:
Who does the most chores at home? Is it fair? Is it unfair?

What chores do you dislike the most?
Do you have to do chores as a routine?
Which ones are you assigned?
Both men's and women's chores should be shared fairly. Do you agree? Why?

we celebrate an important day today, the International day of Women.

For that reason, 

 I want to recommend an amazing book to all of you to work in your English lessons.

It shows girls they can be anything they want.

Story after story, portrait after portrait, conversation after conversation you will see the potential of so many women all over the world.

Some women do like pink, but the idea that they actually decided to make pens just for women baffles me. It's beyond patronising. To be fair, who buys pens anymore? I think it's hilarious that pink and purple are considered "girl colors", when purple used to be the color of kings (because purple dye for clothing was expensive as hell back in the middle ages due to the fact it was made by crushing a rare beetle) and pink was a "boy's color" until the 1940s, when Hitler used a pink triangle to mark homosexuals.

March 8th

Next March 8th, International day of working women, there will be a worldwide general strike for the first time in my life.

I have never worked this issue with primary children but personally I strongly believe that they can understand the video below in which the goal was to turn the phrase "like a girl" from being an insult  to being a real compliment and boost to self-confidence.

1. Why do the girls in the video react differently from the rest of the people when asked to run like a girl, flight like a girl and throw like a girl?

2. Have you ever heard any comments similar to "you run like a girl"? Hod did you feel when you heard them?

3. What could you do or say if you hear them again?
