Time to make space for something new.

Hi there, how is alll going?

This is a post of celebration because this blog is 10 years old. I am truly grateful for your support along these years, really grateful.

Moreover, this post is a farewell, so I am really happy and sad at the same time.

Due to I am involved in a different project, I am going to shut down this blog.

The idea to close it down first started to pop in and out of my consciousness about two years ago, when I was enrolled in many eTwinning and school projects. But the blog was doing so well because it was averaging about many visitors a month and growing. I thought I would have to be crazy to even consider getting rid of it.

But, nowadays it is different. I do not want to be worried because I do not publish anything and that's the reason of my decision. Maybe it is not going to be an end for ever... Who knows...but now, it is time to make space for something new.

Thanks again to everyone for contributing, reading and supporting the blog so far!

Because of that, here you have two amazing videos around pumpkins. Hope you like them. By the way, if you have more educational videos around school topics, you can share in the comments. Thanks!

The world Teachers' Day is an international day held every year on October 5th. It commemorates the signing of the UNESCO's status for teachers in 1966. If you want to make this day special for your favourite teacher,  send her or him a message in which you remind their lessons. By the way, here you have this lovely video for celebrating this day.

TRIBUTE TO QUINO

Yesterday was a sad day because Joaquín Salvador Lavado Tejón, known as "Quino", passed away at the age of 88.

When I was a child, I read Quino's books almost every day! One of my famous comic strip was Mafalda, his most famous work. In fact, I love Quino's strips nowadays! After 56 years (the same Mafalda's age) I can say that Quino has been living and it will live inside my soul.

This is my personal tribute to QUINO.

By the way, if you did not have the opportunity to know who he was, here you have wikipedia information.

European Day of Languages

Hi there, this is the second week at school and children are happy to be in contact with friends and to celebrate their friendship! Hooray for them!

Also, this week is important because it finishes celebrating the European Day of Languages on September 26th. Because of that, I have prepared this breakout about languages in Europe. They are in a trouble and they need your help. Do you want to help them? Try it. You can do it!!

Back to school

Children have greeted the return to school with joy and enthusiasm after a six month pause to in-class learning. Things are going to be absolutely different because teachers have reduced the ratio and maybe this is going to be very positive.

Anyway, for starting these first days, I propose the Personal star. I like a lot this activity because it requires no preparation and students always enjoy a bit of gossip about their new mates and teachers. You have to draw a six-pointed star and on each point write six answers to questions about yourself (about me: August, 8, swimming, orange, Almeria, Tintin)

Then, tell students that the star contains information about you. After that, ask them to guess the information behind the words by asking questions.

Once they guess your questions, put them in pairs and ask them to draw their personal star writing six words about their personal life. In pairs they can ask each other questions to find out about their partner.

When they have all finished, ask them as a group to tell the others what they have found out about their friend.

Summer holidays

Hi there! It's time to have a break. It has been a weird school year and I had to cope with different tasks from the ones we used to do at school. Personally I learnt a lot but I need to switch off from school routines and charge my batteries for a new School year! See you in September ;D

Listening while having fun!

By watching movies you are able to hear and understand spoken English. Hearing how certain words are pronounced will help you to remember and memorize the sounds. Because of that, you will find in this post two proposals: the short video below will introduce you to a segment of a popular movie, and give you an opportunity to learn new words, phrases, and expressions.

The other proposal is a little bit different. While watching, you will have to choose the correct answer. Thanks so much to 7ESL for sharing this great work!

CoRubrics

Hi there, how are you? I really hope you find well. I am in my summer break, in fact today is my first day of Summer holidays because I have finished my last training course. One of the task that I had to do is to evaluate coleagues using CoRubrics and this tool is outstanding! Because of that I wanted to share it in this post. It can be useful in our lessons so that pupils can also learn from their classmates while the assessing process. On the following video you will see that CoRubrics is a quite automatized process resource. You just have to follow the steps carefully. I hope you can apply it to your lessons. It really saves us lots of work when evaluating and you make kids participate in the assessment process too.

Projects from the distance

Hi there, most of you know that I am very fond of eTwinning projects. In fact, I have been asking for a Quality label because of the projects I have been carrying on this school year.
Never mind, I wanted to share what eTwinning projects meant to me during the confinement and in times of COVID-19: an opportunity to look for new methodologies and ways of learning&teaching.

eTwinning network

Have you ever thought of doing an eTwinning project? Yes? I encourage you to do it.
In these tough times, I think that it is important to be inspired and motivated. eTwinning helps me to educate my students with level, to maintain their motivation and involvement, as well as I can provide support and encourage my colleagues by sharing this experience. Today, eTwinning projects and digital tools are unmatched. I use digital tools and resources regularly as a result of using them in projects, workshops and seminars.  eTwinning has greatly influenced my life. It has had a positive impact not only on my professional and personal development, but also on my learning methods. I encourage you to dive into its webpage!

Learn English with songs

Hi everyone!
I have just found an amazing page to recommend our students. It's a resource that offers English songs and activities related to them. An awesome resource for summer time!

Asking for another quality label

"Urban Garden" has been another eTwinning project where Spain, Greece, Italy, Jordan and the Republic of Moldavia shared different materials around plants along this School year. The project aimed to create a Urban Garden in a space dedicated to school. The eye was turned both on the scientific study of the plants that children cultivated, and on the respect of nature for the preservation of the planet. Now, it's time to ask for a Quality Label. I wish I could have this one. Fingers crossed!

World Oceans Day!

Today, June 8th is the  World Oceans Day and it is celebrated by millions of people all over the globe!
Have you ever worked this important day in your English lessons? What do you do to celebrate this special day with students?  I encourage you to think about because it's important to make children be aware of the need of protecting the oceans.

Because of that, I want to share some ideas in this post:

- Plastics Oceans.   Take action by reading and spreading actions around you.
- Save Posidonia project. Do you know what is it or where did this project start?
- New danger to the marine ecosystem. Thousands of masks and gloves end up in the sea.
- The 2030 Agenda for Susteinable Development. Do you know what is this Agenda? Its goals and targets will stimulate action over the next fifteen years!

Also, I want to share an amazing breakout that one of my best practicum students designed for my primary year 4, 5, and 6 students. Thank you Mariona G. for being so enthusiastic!

eTwinning certificates for students

These images show you the certificates that I designed for my year 5 and 6 students. This is a weekend to prepare them and to write draft mails for kids. I want they remember the projects as important European tasks that they were able to share with European students.

Personality traits framer

Hi there, how are youuu? Do you want to check basic vocabulary with an art activity? During confinement days I was planning different activities, one of them was to design an activity to review personality traits vocabulary by making a personal framer. Here you have the guide. Maybe it can give you some ideas.

Senses for the little ones

Hi there, how is all going?
This is an activity for the little ones. I want to encourage them to experiment with water. However, the first step would be to introduce senses through a song:

After that, I would give them a guide to experiment with water:
Do you have more ideas? Might you share them introducing a comment under this post? I would be very grateful.

Spelling activity by moving

Hi everyone! How are you? I do hope this post finds you well.
I have great news for you because I have in mind a Physical Education&English activity .
Following the video “Stay in, spell it” children can check vocabulary learnt in the classroom.

Example: children choose 2-3 words of each group and workout them at least three times to reinforce the spelling.

After that, children can fill in the grid below with the information required.

What do you think about this activity?

Word Wheel

Hi there, this is a new activity that I designed for my students. Games are an excellent opportunity to check learnings. Aren't they? So, let's play an ABC game!
NOTE: for playing you have to get down the grey bar and say "start"

Teacher training during confinement

Hi there, INTEF creates training courses to enable teachers to build up our unique collection of badges and share them through a web. Each badge you earn contains data about some skills and the issuing organization within a portable image file. This data can be viewed when you display and share the badges. So, after doing a new  training course about innovation and the creative use of digital technology, here you have my new badge.

A special farewell

Albert Uderzo, passed away in March. I've got a heartfel feeling thinking about my childhood readings. I read the Asterix&Obelix's thirty-eight books with encouragement and wishing to read and read more stories. I will miss his cute drawings. My condolences to his family.
This is one of my best presents I have ever had along my life. Juanma made it for me, an awesome wooden Obelix&Asterix&Ideafix. Nowadays it is in Joanot Alisanda's library. Juanma and I wanted to leave it as a present for the school. Anyway, taking advantage of this post, I want to celebrate Juanma&I first meeting 33 years ago. It was in 1987, on May 1st !

All together we can make a better world

These confinement days, more than ever, we need to work around emotions in children. Because of that, I will share videos that I think we can use in our lessons. We can explore not only language but also feelings and emotions.

28 Apr 2020

I miss my students

Teachers love students like own children and it is very important that kids feel that we are close to them. Nowadays I use the computer more than an ordinary day. That is because when a child sends a task to me, I want to give her or him a fast feedback. Just he or she feels that we are there.

An easy and amazing tool for your lessons

Hi everyone,
due to the confinement we have extra time to search in the net different resources for our lessons, mainly because teaching on line has become a new way to lead the English lessons. I am a primary English teacher and particulary I want to encourage my students to follow working in an eTwinning project related to idioms. Along these weeks, my students have been working and drawing idioms about health and animals. Now, I want to push them to use a new tool for idioms about nature. This tool is the autodraw.

Happy St. Jordi's Day

St George's Day was celebrated in and around Catalonia every year on April 23rd! However, the COVID-19 has changed everything. The princess has to be at home and St. George will fight with the dragon on July 23rd to rescue her. I hope the dragon eats the virus and we can celebrate our "Diada" next July!

Happy Children's Day

Happy Children's Day everyone! This collage has been created by my eTwinning's team teachers because of children's Day saying,
CHILDREN ARE THE WORLD'S MOST VALUABLE RESOURCES AND ITS BEST HOPE FOR THE FUTURE. HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY!

Earth Day, April 22nd

On Earth Day, we have to say "enough is enough". This year we have two crisis, one is the COVID-19, the other is the climate change. We must solve both problems. Everyone can make a difference, so I encourage you to take action.

Germinating seeds at home

Week after week we have to stay home and we cannot follow up with the planned activities at school. However, this situation can be an opportunity to promote autonomy and confidence in learnings by our own. Because of that, I designed a power point to give some instructions to my students. Let me know if it is useful for you.

Happy Easter Monday!

Although today is a rainy day and we have to stay home because of Covid-19, we changed our mood at home making these two activities: a chocolate cake and Easter eggs. We will win this war against COVID-19 by staying home!

By the way, I want to share a worthy video that was produced by  word in data , a team who presents the data and research to make progress against the world's largest problems. This time, the word in data worked together with the Kurzgesagt team  and they produced the video below. It provides useful information for everybody.

Welcome April

April 1st, the day most commonly called "April Fool's Day" was celebrated in many countries by people in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Russia, Australia, South Africa, The Netherlands and other countries around the world.
 It was a day
to practice jokesget creative and play fun pranks on people around you.
Nobody is exactly sure where the tradition started but nowadays it was an excuse to play silly jokes on friends, as the example below at my kitchen.

Many newspaper, radio personalities, television shows, and internet web sites participated in the celebration. However, the COVID19 doesn't
"allow" us to celebrate it. However, WE CANNOT LOSE a positive attitude because the best is yet to come. I am sure. Also we have children at home, so what about to do activites with them?
Here you have a home made video where you can learn easy eater pranks ;D
